Carimo Mohomed nasceu em Lourenço Marques (Moçambique) em 1973, e vive e trabalha em Lisboa. Licenciou-se em História; especializou-se em Ciências Documentais (Biblioteca e Documentação), e em Cultura, Civilização e Religião Islâmicas; e doutorou-se em Teoria e Análise Política, tendo a sua tese de doutoramento sido traduzida e publicada em árabe.
Profissionalmente, tem trabalhado sempre com livros, informação e documentação: entre 1996 e 2003 numa livraria-antiquária; entre 2003 e 2007 numa biblioteca pública; e, mais recentemente, entre 2016 e 2017, foi o responsável pelo tratamento documental de um arquivo histórico.
Membro de várias associações académicas internacionais, contribuiu para a The Oxford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, Science, and Technology in Islam e para o The Cambridge Companion to Sayyid Ahmad Khan.
As suas áreas de interesse e de investigação são a História e o Pensamento Político Contemporâneos do Mundo Islâmico bem como as relações entre Religião e Política, e os impactos da Modernidade, em diversos contextos civilizacionais e culturais.
Carimo Mohomed was born in 1973 in Mozambique, a Portuguese territory at the time. He graduated in History (1995) and obtained his doctorate in Political Theory and Analysis (2012). In between, he specialised in Library and Information Sciences (2004), and in Islamic Cultures, Civilisations and Religion (2006).
Based in Lisbon (Portugal), his main areas of interest have been the relationship between Religion and Politics in different cultural and civilisational contexts, past and present, which led him to the field of Political Theology; and the History of Political Ideas, especially in the Islamic world, with a particular focus on different theories of Justice, Authority, and Community, which led him to the field of Political Philosophy.
He sits on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Islamic Thought, the Journal of Philosophy and Ethics, the Journal of Islamic Research, and the Annals of Global History. He also serves as Executive Member of IPSA's Research Committee "RC43-Religion and Politics".
