Pedro J. Silva Rei nasceu em Lisboa em Novembro de 1991. É licenciado em História pela Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa, pela qual recebeu o Prémio Mérito e Excelência - Melhores Licenciados (2014). Em 2017 concluiu o Mestrado em História Contemporânea na mesma Faculdade com a dissertação: “Ser Bispo entre a Monarquia e a República. D. António Mendes Bello, um príncipe leonino em Portugal (1885-1911).” Actualmente encontra-se como Bolseiro da Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia no IHC-NOVA FCSH, com o projeto de doutoramento intitulado «A Esquerda Católica e os Cristãos pelo Socialismo em Portugal». Nos últimos dois anos colaborou com o Centro de Estudos de História Religiosa da Universidade Católica Portuguesa integrando os projectos de investigação: «A Construção da Administração Pública. Os Funcionários Eclesiásticos do Estado Liberal no Espaço do Patriarcado de Lisboa (1820-1911)» (2017); «A história de uma congregação feminina na contemporaneidade portuguesa. As Servas de Nossa Senhora de Fátima: identidade e memória» (2018). E ainda, como membro do secretariado das jornadas de estudo «Oito Séculos da Presença Franciscana em Portugal – Memória e Vivência» (2018). As áreas de investigação do seu interesse são a história religiosa contemporânea, tendo proeminência a relação entre a religião e a política, a secularização e a laicidade, a modernidade e a tradição.
Pedro J. Silva Rei was born in Lisbon in November 1991. He graduated in History in the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the New University of Lisbon and received the Award for Merit and Excellence - Best Graduates (2014). In 2017 he completed his Master degree in Contemporary History at the same Faculty with the dissertation: « To be Bishop between the Monarchy and the Republic. D. António Mendes Bello, a leonine prince in Portugal (1885-1911)». He is currently developing his PhD at the IHC-NOVA FCSH with a project on «The Catholic Left and Christians for Socialism in Portugal», with a fellowship from the Foundation for Science and Technology. In the last two years he has collaborated with the Center for Studies on Religious History of the Portuguese Catholic University integrating the following research projects: « The Construction of Public Administration. The Ecclesiastical Officials of the Liberal State in the Area of the Patriarchate of Lisbon (1820-1911)» (2017); «The history of a female congregation in the Portuguese contemporaneity. The Servants of Our Lady of Fatima: identity and memory» (2018) and « Eight Centuries of the Franciscan Presence in Portugal - Memory and Experience» (2018). His main research is the contemporary religious history, with prominence in the relationship between religion and politics, secularization, modernity and tradition.
