Catarina Apolinário de Almeida licenciou-se em História (2003, FLUL) e concluiu o Mestrado em História - Egiptologia (2008, FCSH-UNL) com uma dissertação sobre a tradição cosmogónica de Hermópolis. Foi bolseira FCT de doutoramento em História Antiga pelo CH_UL, FLUL, com uma dissertação sobre a conceptualização de isefet nos Textos dos Sarcófagos (2017). Esteve, enquanto Visiting Fellow, na School of Archaeology, Classics and Egyptology, Universidade de Liverpool (2010-2011). Pertenceu à equipa editorial da CADMO – Revista de História Antiga (2015-2020) e à equipa de coordenação do Grupo de Investigação Culturas e Sociedades de Encontro (2017-2020), do CH_UL. Lecionou (2017 – 2019) História das Culturas da Antiguidade Pré-Clássica e História da Antiguidade Pré-Clássica, na FLUL. Foi colaboradora do projeto TECOP. Textos e Contextos do Orientalismo Português (CEComparatistas). É membro da RIIPOA - Red Iberoamericana de Investigación sobre el Próximo Oriente Antiguo e colaboradora no projecto MORTEXVAR -The Earlier Ancient Egyptian Mortuary Texts Variability (Univ. Alcalá de Henares). Tem como principais interesses de investigação: Literatura Funerária do antigo Egipto; relação entre mitos e práticas rituais e mágicas no Próximo Oriente Antigo; estudos Coptas e Cristianismo Oriental (sécs II – VI); Orientalismo Português, pensamento e obra de Francisco Esteves Pereira; Mitos de criação no Próximo Oriente Antigo. Simultaneamente, foi gestora de ciência e de projetos no Núcleo de Planeamento e Apoio a Candidaturas da Divisão de Apoio à Investigação da FLUL e, atualmente, desempenha funções na área das relações internacionais, na AMA, IP.

She received a PhD in Ancient History (2017, FLUL/FCT scholarship) with a thesis on the conceptualization of isfet in the Coffin Texts and was a visiting fellow at the School of Archeology, Classics and Egyptology, University of Liverpool (2010/2011). She integrated the editorial team of CADMO - Revista de História Antiga (2015-2020) and the coordination team of the Research Group Cultural Encounters and Intersecting Societies (2017-2020), both hosted by the CH_UL. Lectured (2017 - 2019) on Cultures of the Ancient Near East and History of the Ancient Near East, at FLUL. She contributed to the TECOP Project. Texts and Contexts of Portuguese Orientalism (CEComparatistas) and is currently a member of the RIIPOA - Red Iberoamericana de Investigación sobre el Próximo Oriente Antiguo and associate researcher/contributor in the project MORTEXVAR -The Earlier Ancient Egyptian Mortuary Texts Variability (Univ. Alcalá de Henares). Main research interests: Funerary Literature from ancient Egypt; Connection between myth and ritual magical practices in the Ancient Near East; Coptic Studies and Eastern Christianity (2nd - 6th centuries); Portuguese Orientalism and the work of Francisco Esteves Pereira; Creation myths in the Ancient Near East. Concurrently, she worked as science and project manager at the Planning and Application Support Unit – Research Support Office at FLUL. Presently holding an international relations position at AMA, IP.
